Mission and Mandate of the Institutional Planning Office
The Institutional Planning Office provides strategic information and analyses on issues related to the academic planning and mission of the University.
The accomplishment of this mandate requires timely access to strategic information to support continuous questioning of institutional orientations and priorities, evaluation of results and outcomes, assessment of risks and opportunities, and the development of analyses aimed at identifying institutional strengths and weaknesses, monitoring the internal and external environments, and ensuring coherent strategic institutional reporting.
The Office's responsibilities include:
- To keep abreast of planning activities within
the University;
- To keep informed of external decisions and
proposals which affect the University in particular and higher education
in general and support the development of University positions on a
variety of questions pertaining to the future of the University;
- To respond and/or coordinate the institutional
response to requests for statistical information emanating from
government, other external agencies and the community at large;
- To support internal planning and assessment
processes and activities;
- To act as a resource center for various
University decision-making bodies and committees;
- To collect, maintain and analyze statistical
information on all aspects of University operations and activities;
- To coordinate and support administrative units in the provision of institutional information by defining data requirements for planning, decision-making and external reporting, developing coherent datasets, and maintaining historical databases for analysis of trends.
