
Concordia's Chart of Accounts
Overview
Banner's accounting string consists of six elements referred to as the FOAPAL (Fund, Organization, Account, Program, Activity, and Location). The Each element is brisfly defined below:
- The Fund Code represents the source of funding. Where is the money coming from?
- The Organization Code is the departmental/budgetary subdivision involved. Who is spending/receiving money?
- The Account Code represents the asset, liability, equity, revenue, expenditure and/or transfer account classification. What is money being spent on or received for?
- The Program Code represents further detail on the type of fund or organization involved in a transaction. Program Codes will be used by the General Accounting department to produce Financial Statements.
- The Activity Code is optional and is used to offer futher detail on the reasons for a transaction.
- The Location Code is also optional and is used to track the location of assets and will only be used with the Fixed Assets module.
