Łukasz Albański
A graduate in Sociology at the University of Wroclaw, , Łukasz Albański is currently an American Studies doctoral candidate at Jagiellonian University. Albański is a member of the Polish Association for Canadian Studies and the International American Studies Association. His areas of scholarly interests include ethnic relations in Canada and the United States, as well as immigration studies. He has published articles in: Rodzina Polonijna: mobilizowanie i integracja zasobów [Polish Community Family: Stimulation and Integration of Resources] (2006), Przeciwdziałanie niedostosowaniu społecznemu w Kanadzie i Stanach Zjednoczonych [Delinquency Treatment and Intervention in Canada and the United States] (2006), and Blame Canada: The Non- Economic Implications of Canada and the U.S. Relations (2006).
Dylan Brethour
Dylan Brethour is engaged in her fourth year of study at Concordia University where she is enrolled in Liberal Arts and Religion. She is currently completing a thesis on the theme of memory in the novels and essays of W.G. Sebald.
Jonathan Ross Grossman
Jonathan Ross Grossman is a 21-year-old Queen’s University student, currently working towards a medial degree in politics and history. He grew up in the small Jewish community of Kitchener Ontario, with his mother, father, and two brothers. Growing up, Grossman attended both the Kitchener-Waterloo Hebrew Day School and the Hamilton Hebrew Academy. Jonathan’s current academic interests include Jewish history, Middle Eastern history and politics, and an assortment of other histories and current events. Aside from school Jonathan enjoys playing sports such as basketball and soccer as well as coaching a local youth basketball team. As well, Jonathan’s next work will deal with the issue of Japanese aid of the Jewish refugees in China during the Holocaust. Jonathan’s future plans are attending grad school and furthering his knowledge and understanding in his academic interests.
Hyla Korn
Hyla Korn is completing her final year of her MA Program at the University of Toronto's Centre for Religion. She also graduated with an Honors Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto as a Jewish Studies Specialist. Hyla's main areas of academic interest include “Holocaust memory: representation and commemoration practices in Canada” as well as Jewish-Christian Relations.
Elise Loterman
Elise Loterman is in her fourth year of undergraduate studies at York University in Toronto. She is double majoring in Religious Studies and Psychology. Her current research interests include the contemporary Jewish experience, as well as women and religion. Throughout university, she has been heavily involved in the Faculty of Arts Student Caucus and Hillel at York, where she is currently serving as the Vice-President.
Michael Rom
Michael Rom was born in Cape Town, South Africa, and grew up in Toronto and Vancouver. He recently completed his Bachelor of Arts at the University of Toronto, in History and Jewish Studies. He is currently completing a Bachelor of Education degree at U of T. Michael enjoys reading, travelling, learning new languages and playing klezmer music. You can reach him at romsaca@yahoo.ca.
Julie Spergel
Julie Spergel has recently completed her PhD in English Philology at the University of Regensburg in Germany. Her dissertation, “Canada’s ‘Second History’: The Fiction of Jewish Canadian Women Writers,” was awarded a summa cum laude. She has additionally earned a Master of Arts in Intercultural Anglophone Studies (2003) from the University of Bayreuth, also in Germany, and another in Interdisciplinary Studies: Interpretation and Values in the Humanities (2001) from Laurentian University in Sudbury, Canada. Her current academic interests include Canadian Jewish studies, food studies, post-colonial theory, multiculturalism, and women’s writing.
Leanne Tonkin
Leanne Tonkin is a graduate student at Concordia University in Montreal. She received a Canada Council Grant for a novel-in-progress, and she is writing a creative thesis on water.
